The S.S.S. Gryphon is the 2003 National Sea Scout Flagship!!!
The Gryphon is a traditional Sea Scout Ship in Redwood City, California. The Gryphon's program is designed to promote Skipper Carl D. Lane's 4 S's of Sea Scouting: Service, Scouting, Seamanship and social activities. The program teaches maritime skills, providing hands-on training with a 65 foot former Army T-Boat to high school age youth.
The Gryphon meets
twice a week for cruising, maritime instruction, and Sea Scout advancement.
The Gryphon is a youth organized program, with the crew planning
events and activities. We cruise the boat at least once a month,
attend many different Sea Scout events across the Bay Area and United
States, and take two one week summer cruises.
