The 2003 National Sea Scout Flagship Gryphon hosted
the rebirth of the Redwood Rendezvous on September 20, 2003 in the Port of
Redwood City.
The "RR" was attended by 183 Sea Scouts
and Venturers from 13 Ships and one Venture Crew. This was one grand last
hurrah of summer, with clear skies, a light breeze, and temperatures in the
90s. |

The
Redwood Rendezvous is a non-competitive Sea Scout event (ergo, Rendezvous)
where Sea Scouts participated in events such as Cardboard Boat Building &
Race, Ice Cream Making Competition, Super Team Knots, Water Balloon
Launching for Distance, Sea Chanteys, and some quality time to relax.

The Shipwrights had to include the following
boat parts on their cardboard vessels: A Stem, A Keel, and a Garboard
Strake. Yes, the
